Castleton Baptist Church

Church isn’t just about Sunday for us!

Even though we are in a semi-rural location we are very much a forward looking church with lots going on.
We enjoy being part of the local community and have a number of meetings, activities and groups throughout the week.
As God’s family, each with a part to play, we commit ourselves together to:
GROW like Jesus in our everyday lives
SHOW the love of Jesus in every relationship
WITNESS to Jesus in our own communities
As a church we aim to be biblical in content, authentic in nature, gracious in attitude and relevant in approach.
We are a group of around 80 different people, of different ages and backgrounds who enjoy meeting regularly together. Our members are a church family and we grow and learn together in our faith supporting each other through the good and hard times.
We believe that God has invited all creation to live in relationship with him.
So, we seek to learn, live and share of this relationship with our community and those with whom we share our lives.
Sharing the grace, the love and the friendship of God as effectively as possible with all that is possible.
For that, we see to equip people in their faith journey to live their faith out in the world.
In that way we share the good news of Jesus with all.
At the church we believe in...
The one true God who lives eternally in three persons the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
The love, grace and sovereignty of God in creating, sustaining, ruling, redeeming and judging the world.
The divine inspiration and supreme authority of the Old and New Testament Scriptures, which are the written Word of God—fully trustworthy for faith and conduct.
The dignity of all people, made in God's image to love, be holy and care for creation, yet corrupted by sin, which incurs divine wrath and judgement.
The incarnation of God’s human form, the Lord Jesus Christ—born of the virgin Mary; truly divine and truly human, yet without sin.
The atoning sacrifice of Christ on the cross: dying in our place, paying the price of sin and defeating evil, so reconciling us with God.
The bodily resurrection of Christ, the first fruits of our resurrection; his ascension to the Father, and his reign and mediation as the only Saviour of the world.
The justification of sinners solely by the grace of God through faith in Christ.
The ministry of God the Holy Spirit, who leads us to repentance, unites us with Christ through new birth, empowers our discipleship and enables our witness.
The Church, the body of Christ both local and universal, temporary and eternal, the priesthood of all believers given life by the Spirit and endowed with the Spirit's gifts to worship God and proclaim the gospel, promoting justice and love.
The personal and visible return of Jesus Christ to fulfil the purposes of God, who will raise all people to judgement, bring eternal life to the redeemed and eternal condemnation to the lost, and establish a new heaven and new earth. Services are taken by our pastor, Raf de Lima who started with us in September 2017. Worship is a mix of lively, modern choruses and traditional hymns and we have recently started a music group who help to lead our singing. We have different clubs for different people of different ages on a Sunday morning, ranging from Sunday School for ages 3-8 and Junior Church for those aged 8-18. The evening service is attended by a smaller number and is more reflective in nature.
We are easy to find, very welcoming and would love to see you at one of our services. Come join us.

Pastor, Castleton Baptist Church

"I believe that life is a wonderful gift we all receive. But somehow it is incomplete unless we can engage in deep and meaningful relationships both with the people around us and with the God who initiated it all. Our world today throws up opportunities and problems. But, the whole of life, both at its best or its most difficult, only makes sense when we are back in the personal relationship with God in the way we were always meant to be. We want to enable people of all ages to find God for themselves in the revelation that comes from Jesus Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit, and to live out the life He gives us as a loving and serving community.
